Competition was tight but the 72hr. Filmmaker Showdown grand prize went to the hilarious wildlife spoof, "Poached Earth."

Writer/director Jonny Fleet and producer Patrick Henry accepted the oversized $10,000 cheque - and a $500 bar tab at the Longhorn Saloon - Tuesday night for their short film about hot tub poachers - people who trespass on private property to use other people's hot tubs.

"It was awesome," Fleet says the next morning, his voice a little gravely, and long after the bar tab was gone. "It was the best night ever."

This is the second time the team has won the 72hr. Filmmaker Showdown, having taken the prize in 2009.

"Poached Earth" was just one of many ideas Fleet had scribbled down and showed to Henry, who thought it had potential. Shooting took three days while editing took another straight 48 hours. The result is a cleverly scripted, impressively edited and well executed spoof of wildlife programs seen on National Geographic about people breaking into private residences to use hot tubs.

All the finalists' films will be posted on wssf.com within the month. This year's prop was a green apple.
