Two women allegedly had their drinks spiked at Whistler bars in the span of a week and a half, according to RCMP.
The first incident was reported last Tuesday, Aug. 19, when a woman who was visiting from Mission, B.C. told police her drink had been drugged while at a village bar three days earlier. She claimed to only have one glass of water through the night, which she never left unattended.
The woman told police her boyfriend took her home after she began acting strangely and that her memory was foggy until the following morning.
A subsequent urine test came up negative, although Staff Sgt. Steve LeClair said that could be due to the time elapsed between the alleged incident and the test.
A similar incident was reported Monday, Aug. 25, this time at a different village pub. The woman told police she left a beer unattended on two occasions before leaving the bar to meet a friend for dinner, where she became extremely sick.
RCMP is following up to see if there is any surveillance footage from the bar.
The investigation is ongoing.
Speeding stop leads to arrest of Romanian wanted on Canada-wide warrant
A routine traffic stop Tuesday, Aug. 26, led to the arrest of a Romanian man wanted on a nationwide immigration warrant.
The 37-year-old had been living in Vancouver illegally and was wanted by the Canadian Border Services Agency. He was caught going 114 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Highway 99 in Whistler and taken to Vancouver court.
Squatters found living under deck with cache of stolen goods
Investigators following up on a report of a man and woman living illegally under a deck in Whistler were led to a trove of stolen goods the squatters had allegedly taken in an earlier incident.
On Sunday, Aug. 24, police received a report of a break-in that occurred between 1 and 8 a.m. at a condo in the 2100 block of Lake Placid Road. The items reported stolen included credit cards, a German ID, biking equipment and car keys.
The goods were later recovered after police received an unrelated report of a couple living under a patio at a house in the 5200 block of Jordan Lane, where they discovered the missing items, which were returned to the victims.
The man, a 35-year-old originally from Ontario with no fixed address, has an extensive criminal record and was held for court, LeClair said. The other suspect, a 27-year-old Kitchener woman, was released with a promise to appear in court.
They now face charges of break and enter, theft and possession of stolen property.
$3,500 lifted from Whistler Mountain kiosk
Police are on the lookout for a suspect who allegedly stole thousands of dollars from a kiosk on Whistler Mountain last Wednesday, Aug. 20.
The theft was discovered around 12:30 p.m. when the cashier noticed the register had been opened and $3,500 was missing.
The investigation is ongoing.
Alarm call leads to drug arrest for Whistler RMCP
Call it a stroke of good luck for Whistler police, who discovered two men allegedly using drugs while attending an unrelated call at a restaurant on Friday, Aug. 22.
Just before 3:30 a.m., RCMP responded to an alarm sounding at a village restaurant only to find two men nearby sniffing what appeared to be cocaine off a cell phone. There was no indication that the men had set off the alarm, said RCMP Staff Sgt. Steve LeClair, and no signs of forced entry at the restaurant.
Both men were drunk at the time, police said.
A 22-year-old Whistler male and a 21-year-old Colorado male now face charges of drug possession.
Pemberton jogger catches suspect masturbating
What appeared to be a friendly morning greeting turned into an indecent act for a Pemberton woman out on a jog last Wednesday.
The woman told police she was on her regular daily run near Urdal Road when a man walking his dog asked her how she was doing. That's when the woman noticed the man's right hand down the front of his pants, appearing to masturbate.
The suspect had tried to make conversation with the jogger in the past, police said, and is described as being in his late 40s to early 50s, of slim build, six-feet tall, black hair with an earring in his left ear.

How else to explain a curious report Monday of the theft of a top hat and can of beans from a village pub?
The suspect appears to have gained entry through a door on the bar's roof, LeClair said. A pub employee reportedly observed two males on the roof before the incident occurred, and spoke to one of the men, who appeared to be "drunk and messing around," police relayed.
RMCP will examine security footage from the scene to try and identify the suspect.
