In yet another surprise move, Alpine Canada Alpin (ACA) announced on March. 5 that president Kerry Moynihan "has been relieved of his duties." The decision was made by the ACA Board of Directors and was announced by chairman Renaus Beauchesne.

"Kerry put in a tremendous amount of work over the last years and was committed to the success of the organization," said Beauchesne. "We thank him for his efforts."

The announcement came less than two weeks after the ACA released the speed coaches for the men’s team and cancelled that program until the end of the season. Austria’s Burkhard Schaffer, the former coach of the Austrian women’s speed team, has taken over head coaching responsibilities.

The ACA does not have a replacement ready for Moynihan, and is putting together a selection committee to hire a new president over the next two or three months. Calgary’s Ken Read, an original Crazy Canuck, was interviewed for the job in 1999, when Moynihan was hired, and is said to be interested again.

"Our board of directors is committed to not having this change impact our teams or our stakeholders," said Beauchesne.
