Highway 99 has re-opened between Lorimer Road and Nancy Greene Drive following a serious traffic accident around 8 a.m. today (May 22).

"A school bus, which wasn't carrying any students, was travelling south bound when a taxi crossed the centre line and impacted it on its front-end," said Sgt. Rob Knapton of the Whistler RCMP.

Both the driver of the taxi and the school bus were taken by ambulance to the Whistler Health Care Centre with unspecified injuries.

Knapton said the accident is under investigation. While it is still early police are looking at charges of impaired driving causing bodily harm.

"We are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident and whether there was any criminal activity," he said, adding that includes speeding, distracted driving, or driving under the influence.
