Hawaiian surf photography legend, Brian Bielmann will headline an evening at the Whistler Conference Centre Sept.15 starting at 8 p.m. with a series of slideshows from his collection of images captured over the past 30 years. His images have graced 150 magazine covers and the pages of 30 books. He is known for capturing the entire surf lifestyle. Tickets are available online at www.whistlerferiends.com and at The North Face Store and Whistler Visitor Centre. The silent auction is going to have some great art and other items, and the artist gallery is coming together with a wide range of sea to sky artists.
Adding to the event is a screening of Hemming House Pictures film Winter Wave Riders, which follows some self proclaimed crazies who set out to surf some of Canada's best breaks during the freezing winter months.
Throw in some live music from Jon Shrier, a silent auction and a cash bar - and you have an evening of art, inspired by the ocean.
Always wanted to understand how to get really good photographs? Here's a chance to learn with one of the best: Blake Jorgenson.
The winner of Whistler's World Ski and Snowboard Festival Pro Photographer Showdown this year has announced a three-day workshop on Oct.1, 2 and 3 along with other instructors.
This builds on the success of Jorgenson's seminars conducted last fall and Whistler Outdoor Photography Workshop's first seminar last May.
"The fall is my favourite time to shoot and be in the outdoors," he said.
"Last year was a great success so we have decided to bring back the workshops adding an extra day and more guest instructors, athletes, and locations. Concentrating on individual instruction in the field with all levels of photography knowledge. This course is designed to inspire and help you enjoy your outdoor experience even more with photography. "
Each day will be comprised of a combination of on location outdoor shoots that will include shooting pro mountain biking, alpine hiking, landscape, and lifestyle images, as well as classroom sessions. The classroom sessions will cover a range of theoretical and industry knowledge. This workshop is for any photo enthusiast who is particularity interested in shooting outdoor and action photography.
