Avant garde photo exhibition at Millennium Place in April

The gallery space in the upstairs foyer at MY Millennium Place is taking a walk on the wild side for April with Outta Sight–an exhibition of Avant Garde photo-based artworks by Arne Gutmann.

What: Outta Sight - Solo art/photo show by Arne Gutmann

Where: MY Millennium Place (Upstairs Foyer)

When: Exhibition reception Friday, April 1, 7 p.m.

A former urban and fashion photographer from Toronto, Gutmann came to Whistler eight years ago to snowboard and hasn’t looked back.

While he takes advantage of his surroundings, shooting action photos of the Whistler ski and snowboard scene, Gutmann said ‘Outta Sight’ will present alternative fare, namely portraits, and human subject images with "a lot of macro stuff you wouldn’t think would be photo worthy."

Gutmann has given the show a red and black theme with the works displayed in eclectic frames constructed from a variety of found-objects from the Whistler Re-Use-It Centre and Anna’s Attic in Squamish. Like snowflakes, no two frames are alike.

Gutmann displayed works at Behind the Grind during last summer’s ArtWalk, however Outta Sight is his first solo exhibition in Whistler.

The show launches Friday, April 1 with a red and black-themed semi-formal reception featuring music by DJ Dakota and Gutmann’s DJ alter-ego Jack Hammer.

Twenty per cent of profits from Outta Sight Sales will be split between four charities: Zero Ceiling, W.A.G., Camp Care and Ronald McDonald House.
