The seventh and final stage of the fourth annual B.C. Bike Race rolls into Whistler on Saturday, with more than 500 riders taking on a selection of trails including the start of Comfortably Numb to the Young Lust descent, the Green Lake Trail and a wide selection of trails in Lost Lake Park.
After the first three days of racing Chris Sheppard of the U.S. was leading the men's solo race with a seven minute lead over Jason Sager. Colin Kerr was the top Canadian, in third place, 17 minutes back of the lead.
Melanie McQuaid was the top solo female with a gap of 40 minutes over the next racer in her category, Katy Curtis. Whistler's Sarah O'Byrne was in 10 th place.
Simon Pulfrey led the solo masters with just a five second lead over Ted Russo after three stages. Paul Thomasberg of the U.S. was third by just over six minutes.
Lisa Le Poole was winning the solo masters women with an hour and six minutes gap over Nicky Phear. Laureen Coffelt was third.
In the men's team of two race the pairing of Kris Sneddon and Barry Wicks is leading with a three-day time of 8:38:54. They're followed by Marty Lazarski and Stefan Widmer in 8:47:47 and Branden Stewart and Max Knox in 8:57:23.
Whistler's Northlands Medical Clinic Team, Cathy Zeglinski and Brandi Heisterman, were leading the women's team of two category with a time of 11:36:39. They were trailed closely by the Terrascape-Hardcore Racing team of Alana Heise and Kate Aardal in 11:37:14. Little Shaughnessy, Collen Little and Mary Shaughnessy, were third in 13:30:11.
In Open Mixed, the Maxxis-RockyMountain-Luna Pro team of Geoff Kabush and Catharine Pendrel, Canada's top cross-country racers, was leading with a time of 9:39:58. They were followed by Team Neilson (Jeff Neilson and Mical Dyck) in 9:57:50. Wendy Simms and Norman Thibault, the Kona-Frontrunners team, were third in 10:18:04.
