Being the best ski resort in North America makes it only fitting that the best ski instructors teach here.

Every two years the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance picks 30 Ambassadors to represent their organization. This year nine Whistler instructors were picked as the best of the best.

Every two years the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance picks 30 Ambassadors to represent their organization.

This year nine Whistler instructors were picked as the best of the best.

The Ambassadors are chosen based on their excellent teaching and sessioning skills, along with technical knowledge of ski technique. They are also able to perform to the highest level in all kinds of terrain.

Chosen to be part of the CSIA Ambassador Team from Whistler-Blackcomb are Leslie Morgan, Kim Fournel, Janice Morgan, Bart Barcynzski, Jeff Larouche, Steve Dickson, Steve Smart, Andrew Christiansen and Otto Kamstra.

All nine who were chosen have their Level 4 and are current instructors.

CSIA is an association of over 20,000 professional Canadian skiers.

It's becoming a trend.

Each time Intrawest puts a project up for sale, it sells out within hours.

The latest chapter in the success story is the ski resort of Les Arcs in the French Alps.

The 25-million-Euro ($35 million Cdn) Hameau Du Glacier development sold out within eight hours; this is not quite as fast as the Four Seasons development planned for Whistler, which only took about five hours to sell out.

The development is part of Intrawest's first European project at the Village at Arc 1950. When finished the entire project will consist of 800 residential units, a European thermal spa, outdoor pools, as well as restaurants, cafes and boutiques.

Construction for the 102-suite Hameau Du Glacier development is slated to begin in May for completion by summer 2003.

It's been 20 years since the Dave Murray Camps began at Whistler.

To celebrate that success there will be a special anniversary camp from April 8-10.

The anniversary camp will bring together some of the top names in Canadian coaching, like Glenn Wurtele, Keith Robinson, Rick Brown and Terry "Toulouse" Spence – all former coaches of the Canadian downhill team.

The camp will combine speed practice and analysis of technique with celebrations and Dave Murray nostalgia.

Dave Murray was an Olympian and World Cup competitor before becoming Director of Skiing at Whistler Mountain. He passed away in 1990 after battling cancer.

The anniversary camp costs $199, which is half the usual price.

For more information or to register for the camp call 604-932-3434 or log on to www.whistlerblackcomb.com.

For those Whistlerlites who haven't had an outlet to showcase their artistic talents, the Rotary Club of Whistler Millennium is now providing the opportunity. The first Whistler Talent Night will be held on May 25 at 7 p.m. at Millennium Place, so it's time to start dusting off the tap shoes, tuning up the guitar and singing in the shower. The only parameters on performers are a time limit of 5 minutes and decency.

Apart from those two requirements all joke-tellers, dancers, singers and instrumentalists are encouraged to sign up immediately.

The will be three categories – children, youth and adults. A team of five to seven judges will make the final decisions in each category.

The event is a fund-raiser for the Rotary Club of Whistler Millennium. All proceeds will go to the Art & Music programs at the community schools in Whistler.

For more information and for talent registration log on to www.dualmountain.com/rotarytalentnight or call Linda at 604-932-4672 or 604-938-2564 or Mecki at 604-935-3111.
