Canadian skiers topped the podium in a pair of races in South America this past week. At La Parva, Chile, Sherry Lawrence of Calgary placed first in the South American Cup downhill on Wednesday, Aug.

Canadian skiers topped the podium in a pair of races in South America this past week.

At La Parva, Chile, Sherry Lawrence of Calgary placed first in the South American Cup downhill on Wednesday, Aug. 29, while Britt Janyk of Whistler and Emily Brydon of Fernie placed third and fourth respectively.

In the slalom on Saturday, Marie-Michele Gagnon of Quebec led a Canadian sweep of the podium, followed by Anna Goodman and Eve Routhier, also of Quebec.

In the giant slalom at El Colorado on Sunday, Emilie Desforges of Quebec and Larisa Yurkiw of Ontario placed second and third in the giant slalom, behind Tessa Worley of France. Emily Brydon was fifth in that race.
