Davy being deported by New Zealand

Former Whistler accountant John Davy will not be accompanied by his new wife when he is deported from New Zealand to Canada next week.

Former Whistler accountant John Davy will not be accompanied by his new wife when he is deported from New Zealand to Canada next week.

Davy married Josephine, his Filipina wife, at Auckland’s Mount Eden Prison in June while serving six months for fraud.

When he leaves prison next week, getting time off for good behaviour, Davy will be flying back to Canada but Josephine’s application to migrate here has so far been declined, according to reports by the Associated Press.

For a few short weeks this year, Davy was the Chief Executive Officer of a new television station called Maori Television Service. He was making roughly $125,000 a year.

But a newspaper investigation uncovered fabrications in his past and landed him six months in jail for fraud.

In his resume Davy claimed to have a degree in business management from a mid-western U.S. school. That school does not exist.

He also claimed to be a two-time author, a Canadian national fencing champion and a former NHL referee. His extensive international work includes time in Paris and Geneva but this employment history cannot be verified.

When confronted with the lies on his resume, Davy claimed he was forced to change his past as part of the witness protection program in Canada, which also turned out to be a lie.

Davy spent time in Whistler during the early to mid-90s where he ran an accounting firm out of a one-room operation in an Alta Vista home.

He declared bankruptcy here in 1993 when he owed $65,880 with total assets worth $4,500.
