Its like that scene in Braveheart where Willliam Wallace is dying, but its hard to feel too sad because the wife of the prince is carrying Wallaces baby, and quite possibly the heir to the throne of England one life ends in tragedy, and a new one begins in hope.
It may seem like a strong analogy to make about the disc golf courses in Whistler, but people will really miss the old Unmarked Hazards course in Lost Lake Park, even if the new Spruce Grove Powerlines course is the way of the future.
The municipality will officially close Unmarked Hazards on Nov. 15, removing the markers and tonal poles and decommissioning the trails. In addition, the crews will start to close all of the mountain bike trails that have braided off the main trail.
The new course, which is accessible by the Valley Trail from Lost Lake and through Spruce Grove Park, opened this summer with 13 holes built to Professional Disc Golf Association standards. The remaining five holes are expected to be added in the spring.
