For the record

In last week’s story ‘Eagleridge Bluffs coalition finds new hope’ we incorrectly stated that the Cassin’s virio discovered by birders in the path of highway construction was rare when it classified as migratory. It was also suggested that the discovery of a bird’s nest could delay construction, when the area the bird was found is not under construction yet and an up to date environmental assessment, including a bird survey, needs be completed before work crews can enter the area. Furthermore, the buffer zone for that species is in the range of 20 metres, which means crews will be able work around the nest without delays. Finally, we wrote that the coalition would be in court next week appealing an injunction against protesting at the site, when in fact they are appealing an earlier court ruling on their challenge to the environmental assessment. We regret these errors.
