My five favourite albums right now:
1. Howl Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
"If this new album by BRMC was a movie it would have to be in black and white. Its sort of unplugged/acoustic underground folk and blues rock. Very 60s or 80s-like. Very hip and ready for the 21 st Century. Love that early Stones- harmonica sound."
2. Electrified Dressy Bessy
"Sounds like a hybrid of Deborah Harry and The Ramones and The New Pornographers. Reminds me of the glory days of CBGBs."
3. Funeral The Arcade Fire
"The most original band Ive heard in years. A favourite of David Bowie and David Byrne, who have performed with them live. They are Canadian and are quickly on their way to being a huge success."
4. Twin Cinema The New Pornographers
"Also Canadian, from Vancouver. A 21 st Century mixture of 60s to 80s-like power-pop. Flawless vocals by A.C. Newman and Neko Case."
5. A Bigger Bang Rolling Stones
"Although I mostly listen to newer artists, the worlds first garage band prove that after 40 years they are still the best rock n roll band ready to conquer the world. They show us that you are never too old to rock and roll."
Last words .
"Seek out the nuggets of new artists to be discovered rather than over-playing the older stuff. Catch them now while theyre fresh. Catch the next wave."
