Ear Candy

With Scott Johnston — Painter, filmmaker and one half of mysterious underground production duo Zaerox.

My five favourite songs right now:

1. Human Fly — The Cramps

"Best band ever. Best lyrics ever: ‘I've got 96 tears and 96 eyes...’"

2. Love Comes In Spurts — Richard Hell and the Voidoids

"Really creepy (and funny) song with Hell's inimitable ‘singing’ voice in full form."

3. Alec Eiffel — The Pixies

The entire Trompe le Monde album kills but this track stands out for some reason.

4. These Days — Joy Division

Pretty upbeat for Joy Divison... until you listen to the lyrics. The guitars and bass are dead on.

5. So What — Ministry

The live version from In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up is evil, and so is the rest of the album for that matter. Totally underrated industrial/metal classic.

Last words:

Sorry Hank Williams, Iron Maiden, Trail of Dead, Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, Slayer, Police, Megadeth, Ramones, Johnny Cash, In Flames, Lee Perry, Trashmen, Sepultura, Talking Heads, At the Drive-In, Metallica, Stormtroopers of Death, Pavement, Kyuss, Faith No More, Sisters of Mercy, Television, Buddy Holly, Cult, Gwar, Bob Dylan, Operation Ivy, The Smiths, David Bowie, KISS, Minor Threat, Fugazi, Scientist, Turbonegro, Clash, Mötley Crüe, Cannibal Corpse, Van Halen, Stooges, Gotsa, Black Rice, Guns ’n’ Roses, Motörhead, Beach Boys, Led Zeppelin and Brian Eno, but I could only pick five tracks...
