Earth Day celebrations planned The Association of Whistler Area Residents for the Environment is getting ready to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Earth Day. From April 21 to 23 AWARE is going to be hosting a three-day series of informative and entertaining events to raise awareness and raise funds for the Whistler Wetland Protection Fund. Events kick off April 21 in the evening with a benefit dance featuring three popular bands — The Paperboys, People Playing Music, and She Stole My Beer. Festivities continue on April 22, Earth Day, as AWARE hosts a public forum on Whistler as a sustainable community and an all day eco-festival. Admission is free and the event is also garbage free, so bring your own mug. Earth Day festivities will wrap up April 23, with a slide show called "Bears in our Backyard" at the Chateau Whistler in the Frontenac Ballroom. The presentation is sponsored by the Jennifer Jones Foundation and presented by the Northwest Wildlife Preservation Society.
