Figure skating club wraps up successful season

Club to showcase talents at Showcase Showdown end-of-year show

The season for the Whistler Figure Skating Club is drawing to a close with a competition in White Rock this weekend, with various levels competing at the South Surrey Arena from Thursday to Sunday.

On Wednesday, May 26, the club will be hosting its year-end show, the 2004 Showcase Showdown. The skaters will put on artistic performances created for the Showcase, and the top skaters will be performing their free-skating routines. Admission is by donation.

The event will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the Meadow Park Sports Centre.

On a sad note the club is saying good-bye to long-time coach Mandy Begg-Smith, who has helped develop young skaters for the past six years.

The club is now accepting resumes for next season. The individual must have a passion for figure skating, commitment, experience and a minimum Level I-II Coaching Certificate.
