Finalists for 72hr Filmmaker Showdown announced

The winner will be selected at gala event tonight — Tuesday, April 15

The 10 finalists for the Olympus 72hr Filmmaker Showdown have been announced.

Around 30 teams worked flat out from the morning of Friday, April 11 to Monday, April 14, at 10 a.m.

The finalists will be shown and a winner selected at the annual special gala event at the Whistler Conference Centre on Tuesday, April 15 at 9 p.m. The showdown is part of the World Ski and Snowboard Festival (WSSF).

The team leaders and films are:

Braedan Houtman with The Recipe For Success; Christopher Smith with Above The Clouds; Conrad Schapansky with Into The Mime; Darcy Turenne with The Trip; Asta & Teija Kovanan with Spring Wind; Jonny Fleet with We; Kyle Killeen with Board To Be Wild; Laura Adkin with The Road to Peyeongchang; Oliver Popley with Stalk and Peel; and Dale Bailey with The Gorby Gap Rap.

The event is sold out but WSSF has added Encore!, a chance to see all the finalists again, on Friday, April 18 at the Whistler Conference Centre.

At Encore! the public will be able to vote on their favourite of the 10 films.

Doors open at 8 p.m., with films showing at 9 p.m. Tickets are $25 and available at www.wssf.com.
