With the official grand opening planned for mid-2004, the new management team for the Four Seasons Resort Whistler is settling into the resort. They have opened a temporary headquarters on the Blackcomb Benchlands, which they will occupy until the offices in the hotel can be completed.

This is the first new Canadian Four Seasons Hotel for the chain in 28 years.

Scott Taber is the general manager, coming to Whistler from the Four Seasons in Singapore. He has been with the company for 18 years.

"With 18 years of experience at Four Seasons, I have had the opportunity to be involved in many exciting projects, but this is by far one of our finest accomplishments to date," said Taber. "I am thrilled to be involved with the Whistler property and the community of Whistler."

Rudy Mack, the hotel manager, has been involved in opening Four Seasons Hotels in Carlsbad, California and Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

The hotel has also recruited members of its management team locally. Glenn Isles, a Whistler resident and business owner for 10 years who has worked with Delta Whistler Suites, is the new Four Seasons director of sales and marketing.

"Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts has such an incredible reputation," said Isles. "And there is very strong brand loyalty among Four Seasons guests, so we are looking forward to seeing people drawn to whistler by the Four Seasons name."

Four Seasons Resort Whistler is expected to open in late May. The complex includes 242 rooms, suites and townhouses, and a full-service spa.
