Ride Whistler with legendary skiers and boarders

If you’re already an advanced skier or snowboarder, are 12 years or older, and are looking to take your sport to a whole new level, the Whistler Freeride Team is offering an opportunity to spend a day with World Cup champions, freestyle champions, X-Games champions, Olympic hopefuls, and video stars – for free, naturally.

If you’re into big mountain skiing, then you can hit the chutes with first-descent legend Eric Pehota and freeski competitor Jenn Ashton, plus others.

If you’re into speed, you can ski the Dave Murray Downhill with World Cup downhillers Roman Torn and Rob Boyd.

If you’re into skiing the bumps, mogul champion John Smart and World Cup racer Britt Janyk will be your guides.

If you’re into snowboarding, you can freeride with Olympic halfpipe hopefuls Natasza Zurek and Maelle Ricker, X-Games champion Scott Gaffney, or snowboard cross greats Sherry Newstead and Nelsen Jensen.

"Not only are these guys and gals world class athletes, but they’re an incredibly fun group of people to hang with," says Whistler Freeride Team founder Michel Beaudry. "If you’re an advanced rider and a mountain enthusiast, this is a day you don’t want to miss."

Whistler Freeride Day is Dec. 22, and kicks off at Dusty’s at 8:30 a.m. with a good breakfast. At 9 a.m., participants will split into their groups and make their way up the mountain for a day of riding.

At about 3 p.m., the Freeride Team will host an apres party with a freeride team trivia contest and prizes supplied by the athletes – including another day on the mountain for you and three friends with the freeride team member of your choice. The athletes will also be on hand to sign posters.
