Cassie Sharpe comes in sixth in halfpipe, first in aerials

At press time there were still a few days of competition remaining at the 2011 Canada Winter Games in Halifax and surrounding areas.

As of Tuesday, B.C. and Ontario were locked in a competition for second place among provinces, with B.C. leading with 44 medals. Way out front was Quebec with 71 medals.

A handful of Sea to Sky athletes was selected to represent B.C. in alpine skiing, snowboarding, freestyle skiing and cross-country. Most of those events continued through the weekend, but some results were available.

In freestyle skiing, Cassie Sharpe was sixth in halfpipe, first in aerials, 15th in moguls and 16th in dual moguls.

Pemberton's Yuki Tsubota placed fourth in the women's ski halfpipe, third in the women's aerials, fifth in moguls and fourth in dual moguls.

Whistler's Nicola Halliwell was 11th in women's aerials, seventh in moguls and seventh in dual moguls.

In cross-country, the Callaghan Valley Training Centre's Thomsen D'Hont - racing for the Northwest Territories - placed seventh in the men's 10 km Free event, while teammate Geoffrey Richards was 23rd.

In the women's 7.5 km Free, Kasja Brita Heyes was 23rd.

In the Men's 1,000-metre sprint, Thomsen D'Hont didn't make the A Final, but won the B final to place seventh overall.

Complete results will be available after the weekend.
