Due to safety concerns the annual Rubble Creek Classic is on hold. Larry Falcon from the Escape Route said anyone who is registered but can't make the new date work will be given a full refund.

The Whistler Mountain Bike Park's Funduro race, which was scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 28, was cancelled Thursday morning, with the forecast calling for a significant amount of snow in the alpine and heavy rains in the valley — up to 32mm during the day.

The first stage of the course would have taken riders up the Pika's/Matthew's Traverse to the peak of Whistler Mountain and down the Top of the World trail, but that could be covered with 10cm or more of new snow.

That leaves just a few events remaining on the bike park calendar.

On Sept. 29, the bike park is hosting a Learn To Ride (LTR) clinic on A-Line. Details at www.whistlerbike.com in the Events section.

On Saturday, Oct. 12, the bike park will be hosting its fun "Chasse au Tressor" scavenger hunt event, where riders work in teams to find clues around the bike park. The event will be followed by the now traditional year-end party and turkey dinner at the GLC.
