Demonstrations and workshops Aug. 30 — Sept. 1 with glass blower, Malcolm Macfayden. Pre-registration required. Unique contemporary Canadian art. New oil paintings by such artists as Downe Burns and Michel Le Roux and glass bead work by Joy Jubenvill.

Where : Alpine Meadows, 4 km north of Whistler Village
Vincent's decorative stoneware is sought out by art collectors, hotels and those wishing to enhance their cuisine. The gallery also features baskets made with cedar bark, bull kelp and tule rush, handcrafted by Vincent's wife Cheryl. Call for appointment and directions, 604-932-6455.
What : Black Tusk Gallery
Where : Village North on Main Street, in the Summit Lodge
Black Tusk specializes in Northwest Coast art by leading traditional artists. Featuring original contemporary art in the form of totem poles, masks, rattles, paddles, bowls, jewelry and limited edition silk screen prints. Introductory lecture every Monday at 2 p.m. and Thursday at 6 p.m.
What : Art Junction@Function
Where : Millar Creek Road, Function Junction, 7 km south of Whistler Village
Showcasing works from 13 contemporary B.C. artists. This gallery seems to be ahead of the pack, exhibiting many artists which other businesses are just starting to take note of. This is also one of the very few local galleries displaying the talents of Whistler artisans.
