Gibbons Life, a new kind of business venture in Whistler set up to give back to the community, will be running the municipal concession businesses at three parks this summer.

Joey Gibbons confirmed this week that Gibbons Life would take up operations at Rainbow Park, Spruce Grove Park and Lost Lake Park.

"Any revenue that comes out of the concessions stands is going to go back into the community," he said.

For example, Gibbons Life has just sponsored the Whistler Outdoor Volleyball League for the first time. It has also recently supported two art competitions.

The business venture officially launched during April's World Ski and Snowboard Festival with Gibbons Life sponsoring the Big Air contest during the festival's World Skiing Invitational. Gibbons came to the table with $50,000 when it appeared the festival could lose the Big Air competition.

Since the business launched, Gibbons said the phone has not stopped ringing with people interested in his concept of giving back to the community, helping it grow, fostering its successes.

"I don't feel like we're alone in what we want to do," said Gibbons.

"We've got an awesome community and we need to keep supporting it."

The other facet of Gibbons Life is the online booking engine, where people can book all parts of their Whistler vacation. It's aimed at adults with a goal to provide a tailored, uniquely Whistler experience.

Of his new business venture, just weeks off the ground, Gibbons said: "It's new and refreshing and it feels really good."
