Golf B.C. plans to expand is empire outside of the province by purchasing properties in Hawaii.
Golf B.C. is golf resort management and investment company based in Vancouver and headed by Caleb Chan. It owns eight championship golf courses in B.C. including Nicklaus North in Whistler and Furry Creek in Lions Bay.
The company intends to purchase three golf courses and undeveloped land at the Wailea Resort on Maui, and two golf courses and undeveloped land at the Kaui Lagoons Resort.
Golf B.C. is working with Hawaii’s fifth largest private land owner, Alexander and Baldwin, to acquire the properties from the Shinwa Golf Group in Hawaii. Closing of the transaction is expected in October.
Wailea Resort has been recognized as one of Hawaii’s premier destination golf resorts and residential resort communities in the world. It encompasses over 1,500 acres along 1.5 miles of Maui’s Southern Coastline.
Along with the three golf courses, the resort contains six hotels with 2,500 rooms, 450 single family home sites, 1,300 condominium apartments and a huge retail centre.
Two of the golf courses on Kauai were designed by Jack Nicklaus, who designed Nicklaus North in Whistler.
