Although there seem to be more charity golfing events these days than you can swing a club at pause for the groan theres no denying that these spring golf tournaments are a good way to get back into form.
You cant get mad for instance when you slice into the no-go bear area because its a charity game, and the competition formats are designed to be fun rather than competitive.
You usually get some kind of deal that includes green fees, breakfast, lunch and/or dinner, a chance to win some draw prizes, as well as a chance to meet and beat new golfers. Because of the shotgun starts, nobody is on your tail all day.
Best of all you get to help some worthy causes while just by doing something you would probably be doing anyway. So get out there are help.
Whistler Golf Club drops fees for charity
The Whistler Golf Club is hosting its annual locals charity day on May 9 to raise money for the Association of Whistler Area Residents, a volunteer-based organization that is focused on preserving our natural heritage and promoting environmental sustainability.
Green fees are just $35 per person, which includes a hamburger and a drink. There will also be a post-round barbecue on the patio.
Chris Hood, the Director of Golf Experience for Tourism Whistler estimates that more than 200 local golfers will take advantage of Locals Day.
