RCMP investigating possible fraud by reservation company The owners of a Whistler property reservation company who allegedly took dozens of property owners, renters and its own employees for a ride — and then promptly left town — are under investigation by the Whistler RCMP. Affordable Holiday Homes, a reservation company which formerly operated an office in the Whistler Creek Lodge, recently ceased operations, leaving a list of disgruntled customers and employees. Cpl. David Fee said the RCMP began getting a variety of complaints about the company about a week ago and has launched an investigation into possible charges of fraud and operating on false pretences. "We've received complaints from owners who had their properties handled by the company, but haven't been paid revenue or have had their rent cheques bounce," Fee said. "Many people who also made bookings and paid a deposit showed up and found the properties locked." Fee said the RCMP have received more than a half dozen complaints. Unfortunately, employees who claim they're owed back pay by Affordable Holiday Homes won't be able to get much help unless they pursue the company with a civil claim. Fee said it appears the owners of the company have also left town but the RCMP will be attempting to track them and get some information on the possible improprieties.
