Three homes are damaged with one completely destroyed following an early morning house fire at Spruce Grove Circle in Whistler.

Whistler Fire Rescue Service responded to the fire at 3:30 a.m. on Sunday Aug. 11, and the fire was under control by the early hours of the morning.

"Both houses on each side are extremely damaged," said Spruce Grove resident Chris Armstrong.

"One is completely unlivable - (it's) probably going to be a tear down - and the other one is pretty bad too."

Earlier in the night, a house party at the residence had drawn noise complaints, Armstrong said.

By 4 a.m., one house was a towering inferno.

"It was drying your eyeballs it was so hot. It's kind of surreal," he said.

"Fires are extremely hot, and when you open your door - and I'm 80 feet away - and I can feel it like I'm sitting in front of a fire place, it's pretty intense."

Fire crews from Pemberton and Garibaldi Fire services provided backup to Whistler Fire and helped ensure the fire didn't spread.

"Thank you to the fire department for the response and management of this fire incident, and I'd also like to acknowledge the neighbouring fire departments for coming in as back up," Whistler Mayor Nancy Wilhelm-Morden said in a press release.

Two people were reportedly injured in the blaze, and were taken to the Whistler Health Care Centre by BC Ambulance.

Emergency Social Services has been arranged for residents of the three houses involved.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
