After several years of hosting a contest for their members the Whistler-Blackcomb Freeride Club opened its annual junior freeride competition to the masses last week, attracting a field of 77 skiers.
In the Junior Girls 13 and Under category, Maggie Tuer earned the top combined score of 55.12, more than five points ahead of second place Anna Yamaoka and Ali Dunn. More than 20 skiers were in the category.
In Senior Girls 14 to 17, Laura Macdonald placed first, followed closely by Celia Pinczower and Erin Kerr.
In Junior Boys 13 and Under, Logan and Dalton Pehota — sons of big mountain legend Eric Pehota — placed first and second out of a field of 33 skiers. Alexander Geddes was third.
Logan also posted the highest score of the day for any category, with an 88.5.
In Junior Boys 14 to 17, Ryan Sullivan edged out Jesse Melamed by half a point, 86.88 to 86.38. Kae-Lor Sittlinger was third.
