Prince George's Tabor Mountain Ski Resort hosted the latest stop on the B.C. Timber Tour, and skiers from the Whistler Blackcomb Freestyle Club who went up north for competitions held Feb. 6 to 9 did not disappoint.

Whistler skiers' medal total from the event hit double-digits after all slopestyle, moguls and big air contests wrapped up over the weekend. Leading the way was Chase Ujejski, who reached the podium in all three events while competing in the M4 (boys' 13-and-under) age group.

Ujejski claimed gold in big air and bronze in the other two disciplines. He led a Whistler podium sweep in the big air event, with Evan Low taking silver and Seth McGregor finishing with bronze. Lucas Pelletier finished fourth in the event for the Whistler club as well.

Also in M4 competition, Luke Smart skied to victory in slopestyle and also earned a silver medal in moguls, giving him medal finishes in both the events he started. Duncan Bustos, Sam Cordell and Dexter Butterworth each had at least one top-10 finish to their credit from M4 events.

Mackenzie Wilson skied in only the slopestyle and big air contests but reached the F4 (girls 13-and-under) podium in both. She took down the victory in slopestyle and added a bronze in big air.

Ben Pratt also came home a winner, capturing a gold medal in the M2 (boys' 16 to 18) age group.

Aidan McConnell and Charles Armstrong didn't reach the podium in their M3 (boys' 14 to 15) category but were extremely consistent, never finishing outside the top eight. Armstrong's best finish was fourth in big air, while McConnell reached a high of fifth in slopestyle.

The next Timber Tour stop, as well as the next set of Super Youth competitions, are scheduled for early March at Silver Star.

SKATERS SHINE AT COAST CHAMPIONSHIPS

Whistler Skating Club athletes travelled to Chilliwack over the weekend and performed admirably in the WinterSkate B.C. Coast Region Championships held Feb. 7 to 9.

Among some of the highlights, Olivia Hutchinson skated to gold in the introductive interpretive category, while Kate Risso finished ninth.

Madeline Blaser earned silver in the bronze interpretive class, while Georgia Strim collected a bronze award for her performance in the pre-introductive interpretive division.

Brennan Riddle's skate in the Star 3 category was good enough for gold, while Risso, Lily MacConnachie, Eme Leigh and Strim achieved silver.

SIGN UP FOR THE FIFTH NIMBY FIFTY

Don't forget that registration opens this weekend for the Nimby Fifty, which is celebrating its fifth year in 2014 and will be marking the occasion appropriately.

Chromag has signed on as a presenting sponsor for the Pemberton mountain bike race, which has drawn some of B.C.'s top riders to compete and gained notoriety as one of the toughest tests on two wheels. This year's race goes on May 31.

Organizers are also bringing back the Red Bull Downtime enduro section, a timed descent in the middle of the course with prizes for the winners.

Registration goes live at www.nimbyfifty.com on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 4:20 p.m. The field will be capped at 420 riders, so make sure to sign up early. In fact, those getting their entries in before April 1 will have a chance to win a three-day mountain biking trip in the Yukon for two people.

The early bird cost is $80, which includes a $5 trail fee.
