On Monday night council heard 25 presentations from community groups looking for grants in 2003.
The groups asked for $740,000 in total through their grant-in-aid applications but the municipality has to pass this years budget before it can dole out any money.
Among the groups who applied were AWARE (the Association of Whistler Area Residents for the Environment), Zero Ceiling Society of Canada, Whistler Animals Galore, WORCA (the Whistler Off Road Cycling Association), the Girl Guides of Canada and the Whistler Film Festival 03.
The budget is scheduled to go before council on April 7. The grants will be issued by the end of April.
