Lottery lightning strikes Lyle a second time

Lucky Mr. Lyle. Intrawest’s director of marketing for real estate development won $2 million in cash and prizes in the B.C. Cancer Lifestyle lottery this week.

Lucky Mr. Lyle.

Intrawest’s director of marketing for real estate development won $2 million in cash and prizes in the B.C. Cancer Lifestyle lottery this week.

Wayne Lyle, 48, spent Tuesday driving around in his new Mercedes C240W and touring his fully furnished Shaughnessy mansion.

He also won $50,000 in cash.

And this isn’t the first time Lyle has won a major prize.

Just two years ago the bachelor won $1 million in the Surrey Memorial Hospital Lottery.

When a friend called to tell Lyle he had won the prize he thought it was a joke. But while he was on the phone to his friend the B.C. Cancer Society called to tell him about the win.

Lyle always supports the hospital lotteries and the cancer lottery had a special meaning for him as he recently lost a good friend to the disease.

He said the money won’t change his lifestyle – he lives in a 1,400 square foot "cottage" – but it may let him indulge in his love of expensive clothes.

This year’s Cancer Foundation lottery raised $2 million for research.

Second prize winners Nelson and Glennis Deslippe of Surrey won a quarter share in a Whistler condo, season passes, a Jeep, and $15,000 in cash.
