A local male has been arrested in connection with complaints of indecent acts committed on Highway 99 between Pemberton and Mount Currie.

Since last September, RCMP and the Stl’Atl’lmx Tribal Police have received complaints of a man who picked up female hitchhikers and then exposed himself while driving along Highway 99 between Pemberton and Mount Currie. In the two reported incidents, the male made no attempt to touch or hurt the female passengers before letting them out of the vehicle.

Whistler-Pemberton RCMP, working with the Stl’Atl’lmx Tribal Police, arrested a man on Thursday, March 2. He currently faces two counts of sexual assault. Although the man has been identified by police, and charges will be forward, the investigation remains ongoing.

The male has been released on court documents and will face charges in a Pemberton courtroom at a later date. He is under strict conditions and is not believed to pose a threat to the community.
