MY Place has taken over operation of the Teddy Bear Daycare, which operates in the Maurice Young Millennium Place building.

Teddy Bear Daycare Whistler has been providing Whistler with the only seven-days a week daycare; open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with drop-in for both locals and tourists.

In the early planning stages of MY Place, the need to cater to parents who do not work 9-5, five days a week was recognized. Whistler locals do not fit the mould, and Teddy Bear Daycare Whistler was established to cater to the many diverse Whistler lifestyles.

Kristin Nichol, owner of Teddy Bear Daycare in Vancouver, set up the daycare. She did an excellent job, and succeeded in creating a fun, educational and safe place for "your little bear".

Nichol has opted to remain in Vancouver, so MY Place has decided to step in and follow through with the operations at Teddy Bear Daycare Whistler.

"We are proud to include Teddy Bear Daycare Whistler in our fold of achievements, ever-evolving projects and operations," Rob Schwartz, general manager of MY Place, said in a release.

"I see many opportunities for the growth of both the little ones and the growth of the only local daycare that is responding to the needs of this community."

The changeover is effect immediately. The entire staff will remain at Teddy Bear Daycare, so the impact on the children who frequent the daycare will be negligible.
