In picture perfect conditions Neal Kindree took his second Test of Metal mountain bike win in as many years.

Crossing the line in 2:34:28 Kindree rode a fast competitive race.

Kris Sneddon crossed the line just a couple of minutes later in 2:36:20, with Cory Wallace of Jasper, AB taking third in 2:39:49 in the pro-elite category.

The top female racer was Sandra Walter in 3:00:21. It's been 12 years since the Coquitlam racer won the Test of Metal. Squamish's Brandi Heisterman took fourth at 3:03:51.

Whistler's Mahon Lamont took second in the men 14-19 category in 3:06:07. The win went to Squamish's Rhys Verner in 2:51:40.

Some other Whistler riders also had strong showings including Tony Routley who won the Men 55-59 year category in 3:01:58. John Block was fifth in that same category in 4:41:12.

Chloe Cross took the Women 30-34 category in 4:30:56 with Sarah Olner riding across the finish line in 4:40:16. Squamish's Catherine Gendron took third in 4:45:40

In the 45-49 category the win went to Whistler's Cathy Zeglinski in 4:26:12

In the 55-59 category Grace Blok finished in 5:48:42 to take a gold medal in her age group

There were 871 racers at the start.

It's the Test of Metal's 17th season and the race some changes - for one, the replacement of the North Shore Credit Union as the event's title sponsor by Nesters Market. There were also changes to the route as well due to construction of a power line needed to connect a new run-of-river independent power project to the BC Hydro grid. The Test of Metal is a 67km mountain bike race with over 35km of Squamish singletrack.
