New rail kings crowned

The King of the Rails series continued at Night Moves last Saturday, with more than 40 skiers and snowboarders turning out for the second outing of the season.

The King of the Rails series continued at Night Moves last Saturday, with more than 40 skiers and snowboarders turning out for the second outing of the season.

King of the rails is judged by athletes and organizers, with the winners taking a share of each athlete's $2 entry fee. All participants are eligible for a large selection of draw prizes.

According to the rail riders, Yuta Sako and Amanda Beckinsale were the top snowboarders, and Hiro Katsui and Arianna Stufano were the top skiers.

Katsui also won the Atomic Tweak skis in the prize draw.

The next King of the Rails event is on Saturday, Jan. 31.

You can register at the Ski School Sales desk in the Blackcomb day lodge starting at 4:30 p.m. on competition day. The contest gets underway under the lights at 6 p.m. with a jam session, and the voting starts at 7:30 p.m.

Helmets are mandatory and no inverted tricks are permitted.
