Cops set off on bike tour to raise money for cancer
A team of police officers will leave Whistler on Saturday, Sept. 20 for a seven-day bike tour through the Sunshine Coast.
Their goal is to help raise money for children with cancer. They are also hoping to raise awareness about children suffering with the disease.
They will bike 600 kilometres over the seven days, ending their tour in Vancouver on Saturday, Sept. 27.
There will be a small opening ceremony on Sept. 20 and the Canadian Cancer Society is looking for volunteer leaders to spearhead the ceremony.
The society is also looking to rebuild their community leadership in Whistler in a number of volunteer positions. They need a unit president, secretary/treasurer, program chair, and revenue development chair.

Get ready to exercise those vocal cords
The Whistler Children’s Chorus is starting its 12 th season of rehearsals and performances next week.
There are three choirs in the Children’s Chorus. The Junior Choir is for Grades 1 to 3, the Intermediate Choir for Grades 4 to 6 and the Honour Choir for Grades 7 to 12. This non-auditioned community choir performs at different events and choral festivals throughout the year.
Kids can register for the Whistler’s Children’s Chorus at Strut Your Stuff on Saturday, Sept. 6 or at rehearsals throughout September. Rehearsals are set to begin Sept. 9 and 10 at the Myrtle Philip Community School. For more information contact Alison Hunter at 604-932-2979.
Whistler women to get Internet business savvy
Maureen Daschuk, vice president of corporate strategy for Paradata Systems is set to speak at the next Women of Whistler meeting. She will discuss maximizing the Internet to market and operate a small business.
The meeting will be held at Bavaria Restaurant on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 6 p.m.
