Whistler names runs... Whistler Mountain has named the four new runs cut this fall from West Bowl to Creekside. The main trail from West Bowl is called Peak to Creek. From the base of Bagel Bowl, Big Timber winds its way to Home Run, which continues to Creekside. The connector run from Big Timber to Peak to Creek is called Dusty’s Descent. Most of the trail development is under way, but final summer grooming and completion won’t be done until next summer. The trails will be rated advanced/expert (black diamond) this winter, but when summer grooming is completed the runs will be designated intermediate (blue). A draw was made from the names of everyone who picked any of the four names. Erin Early of Whistler was the grand prize winner, and will receive a Whistler Mountain Creekside pass for the 1995/96 season. ...and adds halfpipe Whistler Mountain and Westbeach have also combined forces to create a new halfpipe beside the Pontiac Race Centre under the Green Chair. Westbeach oversaw construction of the halfpipe, which is more than 300 feet long, and will maintain the facility this winter. Whistler Mountain has purchased a Karlbacher Snow Blower blade, which will attach to the front of a snow cat, to help maintain the halfpipe. A terrain park with snow-sculpted hits will lead to the halfpipe. The hits will be constructed and changed by the snow grooming crew from week to week.
