Back again for a second year, Whistler-Blackcomb is again hosting Night Moves off the Magic Chair.

The area features rails, boxes, and other features for jibbers, as well as open runs for people to practice skiing and snowboarding.

Night Moves will start again on Dec. 19, with a new, improved rail park, featuring a new mini rainbow rail, a 15-foot rail, C-boxes, jib boxes and pyramid features. The stunts will get a lot of use in the weekly King of the Rails competitions.

"Night Moves and the King of the Rails competition were really popular last year so we decided to bring them back," said Whistler-Blackcomb public relations manager Christopher Nicolson.

"It’s great for people who work all day and want to ride rails at night, and for people who just can’t get enough of the terrain park.

"It’s also a great place to try another sport for the first time. We’ve seen skiers come to Night Moves to try snowboarding, and vice versa."

Night Moves starts at 5 p.m. and runs until 9 p.m. It’s closed Christmas Eve, but will be open Dec. 28-31. The cost is $5 for adults, $4 for kids 12 and under. The King of the Rail competition is another $2 and takes place at 6 p.m. on Dec. 27, Jan. 17, Jan. 31, Feb. 14, Feb. 28, March 13 and March 20. That includes judging and an after party with lots of draw prizes and giveaways.

A share of the money will also go towards the top rail rider of the evening.

Tobogganing will be allowed in a designated kids area, but only after mountain operating hours.

Snowskates and snowbikes will be allowed on the chairlift, and the 18 Below restaurant at Base II will be open for drinks and snacks.
