The North Shore credit union will open a new branch in Whistler Creek at the former Backpackers Hostel property on Lake Placid Road.
A rezoning application will be submitted to RMOW by early September and construction of the new branch is expected to commence in 2004.
"Weve been here since 1984 and have seen this community grow," John Nadeau, NSCUs Senior Manger for the Whistler Area.
"As Creekside continues to grow, so does the need for convenient access to financial services."
Nadeau said that when approved, the new branch will fulfil that commitment and allow NSCU to fully serve the local residents that live in the area.
Part of the planning phase for the new branch will be a member survey and focus groups to ensure the services that are provided best meet the needs of Whistler Creek residents.
This will be the Credit Unions third branch in Whistler.
