The body of a 49-year-old Ontario man pulled from Anderson Lake on July 22 has been identified as William Kenneth Valkenburg.
His body was found by a Squamish fisherman, who notified the police at approximately 10 a.m.
The incident is still under investigation, but the RCMP confirm that the man was camping in the area with his family at the time. No foul play is suspected, and the file is being treated at this time as an unfortunate accident.
Three-vehicle accident closes highway
Highway 99 traffic was re-routed through the Nordic subdivision on Monday afternoon, after a three-vehicle collision at the turnoff for Wayside Park.
According to the RCMP, a northbound 2002 Toyota that was attempting to make a left turn into the parking lot was struck from behind by a 1996 Mack dump truck.
The collision pushed the Toyota into the southbound lane, where it was struck a second time by a 2003 Chevrolet pickup.
Nobody was seriously injured in the crash, although the 53-year-old driver of the pickup was treated and released with minor injuries. All drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
The crash closed a section of the highway for an hour and a half to allow the RCMP to investigate and crews to remove two the damaged vehicles and clean up the crash site.
