A 35-year-old man was injured New Year’s Day when a car spun out of control and hit him while he was waiting at an enclosed Whistler bus stop.
“We are still investigating the situation,” said RCMP Cst. Graham Morgan of the Sea to Sky Policing Services Unit.
The accident happened at about 3:30 a.m. Emergency crews rushed to the scene and took the pedestrian to the Whistler Health Care Centre for non-life threatening injuries.
RCMP investigators found a crushed B.C. licence plate at the scene. Morgan confirmed that the plate, 894 CMC, is registered to a Whistler resident with a Black Jeep Cherokee.
Police are hoping the car owner will come forward. Currently the driver is facing criminal code offences for failing to remain at the scene of an accident and possibly dangerous driving.
It is likely the car sustained serious damage.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Whistler RCMP at 1 604 932 3044 or Crime Stoppers at 1 800 222 TIPS.
