Pemberton Museum to receive $66,375 federal grant to equip new archives building
More artifacts will be accessible to public

Pemberton and District Museum and Archives Society has received a grant of $66,375 from the federal government to equip a new archives building for public display.
The funding will improve the 2,500 square-foot building with flooring, wiring and lighting, insulation and plumbing; it will pay for the creation of additional museum storage, display and public access space. The archive society's collection of regional artifacts and archival materials will also be housed there.
The money came from the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund of the Department of Canadian Heritage, and has been granted in the museum's 30th year.
"Our new facility will create a permanent home for many of our pioneer artifacts, as well as safe, permanent storage for our archival documents and pictures," said George Henry, President of the Pemberton and District Museum and Archives Society.
"This investment will bring to conclusion a project started eight years ago. We are extremely grateful for this financial assistance and the support of the Government of Canada."
"We appreciate the professional work of the team from the Pemberton and District Museum and Archives Society. This large-scale project will make the museum's exhibitions and activities more accessible to the public," said Mark Strahl, MP for Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon.
