The RCMP was able to intervene before a volatile situation between a husband and wife turned violent on Friday, Sept. 19.

At around 8 p.m., a complainant called police to report that her friend had indicated that his wife, who had just been released from a Lower Mainland hospital, "was en route to his location in Whistler to kill him at a hotel he was staying at," RCMP Staff Sgt. Steve LeClair said.

At the complainant's urging, the man contacted police and advised that his wife had sent him a threatening message and also had access to firearms.

Officers were eventually able to locate the woman and arrest her in Whistler. Upon searching her vehicle, 20 grams of suspected cocaine were found.

The investigation is ongoing.

The 33-year-old Surrey woman was held for court on charges of uttering threats and possession of a controlled substance. Police are also seeking a firearms prohibition for the suspect.

Victim suffers possible broken nose, tooth in reported village assault

Police attended a reported assault in progress last Thursday, Sept. 18, after a Whistler male allegedly punched another man and staff member of a village nightclub.

Speaking with the alleged victim, who suffered a possible broken nose and chipped tooth in the attack, police were able to track down a suspect who matched the description provided, and arrested him for assault, said LeClair. The suspect also reportedly spat in the victim's face.

The 20-year-old local man was released on a promise to appear in court in November.

Sexual assault reported to police following stagette party

A 27-year-old Whistler man was arrested Sunday, Sept. 21, after he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman who was in town for a pre-wedding celebration.

"The victim and her friend were in Whistler for a stagette party and were out celebrating in the village when they were approached by two males after bar close and went back to a townhouse complex," LeClair said.

The alleged victim was missing for a period of time, friends said, and eventually showed up at her hotel "very upset and crying," police said. The woman was able to provide a first name of the suspect, who was eventually identified and located by police.

The investigation is ongoing.

Man reportedly assaulted, has bike thrown in stream

Two male suspects were apprehended on Friday, Sept. 19, after one reportedly punched a man in the face, and the other threw the victim's bike into a stream, police said.

RCMP eventually located and arrested both men, but, as there was no damage to the bicycle, one of the suspects was released with only a public intoxication ticket. The other suspect, a 24-year-old Whistler man, faces assault charges.

Pair of vehicle thefts likely related, says police

A string of vehicle thefts in Whistler last week are likely related, according to RCMP.

The first incident was reported on Monday, Sept. 22, when a man said his 1995 black Jeep Grand Cherokee was stolen from his girlfriend's residence on Blueberry Drive sometime the night prior.

A vehicle with a similar description was reportedly seen Monday at the corner of Alta Lake Road and Old Mill Lane, where a complainant discovered his rear passenger window smashed with several items missing, including a motocross helmet valued at $700. A middle-aged Caucasian man was reportedly seen in the Jeep, which is still missing.

Police are urging the public to keep a lookout for the vehicle, which has a B.C. license plate 156-MXG.
