Whistler RCMP is hoping the public can help identify a male suspect who attempted to break into an ATM last month.
On Jan. 27, police received a report of an attempted theft and attended the scene in the 7000 block of Nesters Road, noting "extensive damage in the room where the ATM was located," said Staff Sgt. Steve LeClair.
The suspect did not make off with any money.
Meanwhile a rash of thefts and mischief were reported this week in an area concentrated around Cheakamus Way, police said.
Two vehicle break-ins were reported on Monday, Feb. 16, believed to have taken place overnight. One complainant told the RCMP that his vehicle was broken into while parked in front of his residence in the 2700 block of Cheakamus Way. A GPS and $20 in change were allegedly stolen.
It was one of several vehicles damaged that evening.
Another complainant called police later the same day to report that mail from at least five mailboxes near Cheakamus Way and Bayshore Drive was taken. Several other boxes were damaged, as well.
LeClair said the incidents are believed to be related.
In the past week, police have also received additional reports of damage to several Canada Post mail kiosks in Creekside, including on Sarajevo Drive, Sproat Drive and Millars Pond Crescent. No mail was reported stolen.
