Whistler police are investigating the report of a stolen necklace taken last week.
Mounties first learned of the alleged theft after receiving reports of a verbal altercation involving a group of people outside the Whistler Conference Centre in the early hours of April 30. Once on scene, officers spoke to a man reportedly involved in the altercation who said his diamond chain, worth more than $5,000, was taken earlier in the evening.
"I believe his thoughts were that one of the people (involved in the incident) may have taken the chain," explained Sgt. Rob Knapton with the Whistler RCMP.
MAN ARRESTED AFTER FIRING AIR GUN IN SQUAMISH PARK
A man was arrested after reportedly firing an air pistol across a trail in a Squamish park last week, police said.
Squamish RCMP attended the scene on April 27 to find an intoxicated man discharging an air pistol in Rose Park. Police said the suspect was firing 4.5-millimetre pellets at beer cans across a busy public walking path and patch of water directly across from an active rock-climbing site. No one was injured.
Officers seized the pistol along with some homemade targets and alcohol. The suspect was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
WHISTLER RCMP MAKE TWO DRUG BUSTS IN LESS THAN AN HOUR
Whistler police were kept busy the night of April 27 with two minor drug busts over the course of an hour.
The first incident occurred at 1:10 a.m. when officers patrolling the Village Stroll ran into a male in possession of suspected cocaine, police said. The drugs were seized, and the suspect, a 29-year-old Brackendale resident, was arrested with a future court date.
Less than 40 minutes later, police said they observed another male, a 30-year-old Whistler resident, using what was believed to be cocaine near the Village Gate taxi loop. He was arrested on possession charges and released with a promise to appear in court.
POLICE INVESTIGATING SMASHED WINDOW AT SKIER'S PLAZA
Whistler RCMP is looking into a mischief complaint after a window was broken at a business in Skier's Plaza last week.
The initial report came in just before 2:30 a.m. on April 28 of a male in a plaid jacket with a black hoodie underneath smashing the window. When police arrived, however, the suspect was already gone, said Knapton.
