Morgan Pridy's race season got off to a roaring start over the weekend when he stepped onto the podium four times in one day during FIS speed races at Colorado's Copper Mountain.
The Whistler skier won a super combined race held Sunday, Nov. 10 and placed third in another held the same day, while he also claimed the runner-up spot in a pair of super-G events also staged Sunday.
Pridy's results followed 10th- and 16th-place finishes from a double dip of downhill races held the day before.
The weekend races featured a number of skiers from the Canadian, American and Austrian national teams, as well as a handful of racers from other countries.
In his combined win, Pridy sat second after the opening run, then held off the field with a top-10 slalom time to earn the victory.
It's been a promising start to the year for Pridy overall. Earlier this offseason, he captured the annual Condor Cup, an unofficial challenge race held in Chile between the Canadian and Norwegian speed teams.
Older brother Conrad Pridy was the only other Whistler skier to participate in all six races over the two days at Copper Mountain. Conrad earned his top results in the combined events, posting finishes of 11th and 13th. He also recorded a 13th-place finish in the second of two super-Gs, hitting the top 20 in the other and a best downhill result of 18th on Nov. 9.
Manuel Osborne-Paradis did not race the combined events, but did ski to some respectable results in the downhill and super-G races. He finished ninth and 10th in the downhills and followed that up by placing fifth and 15th in the pair of super-Gs.
Whistler skier Ford Swette raced all four Nov. 10 events, placing 26th in both combined races. He also earned one top-50 finish in super-G competition.
Another Whistler Mountain Ski Club product, Austin Llewellyn, raced to 67th spot in one of the Nov. 9 downhill events.
The Pridy brothers and Osborne-Paradis are all in the midst of preparing for the World Cup speed openers scheduled for Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at Lake Louise.
