Putting a face on art

Artist Daniel Poisson is inviting the public to submit one portrait photograph of themselves for him to paint and showcase at his 1 Earth: Sharing Space art exhibit showing for the month of July at MY Millennium Place. Poisson often works with portrait photography from around the world taken by his father, Donald, and then layers the image in colour, messaging and shapes. One person will be selected and rewarded with an original Daniel Poisson painting, a signed print, and one signed and framed Donald Poisson photograph. The winner will also have their image displayed at the exhibit. If the painting sells, 50 per cent of the sales will be donated to a charity of the winner’s choice. Anything goes for the jpeg submission: serious, angry, funny, devastated or proud, just keep it clean with only one person in the image. Send submissions to daniel@danielpoisson.com by Nov. 15.
