Police are continuing to try and identify a man who was found dead in a heavily wooded area near Green Lake in April, and have eliminated all but four leads so far.

On April 26, a cyclist discovered the body on a mountain-biking trail about 200 metres from Highway 99. The death is not considered suspicious.

RCMP has received 14 tips related to the unidentified man, but LeClair said the majority have so far been ruled out.

The man, who was estimated at between 50 and 65 years old at the time of his death, is believed to have died shortly after last being seen on Nov. 13, 2013.

The John Doe is described as being Caucasian, with long grey hair held in a short ponytail with a "scrunchie." He is between 5'6" and 5'10" tall with a medium build. He has no remarkable scars or tattoos.

Anyone with information is asked to call Whistler RMCP at 604-932-3044.

Intoxicated woman breaks into village sports store for shut-eye

A 21-year-old Abbotsford woman with a penchant for public intoxication and trespassing was found passed out in a Main Street sports store at 3 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3.

Police attended after an alarm was sounded, and found the front door of the shop ajar. There were no signs of forced entry, the woman was not a store employee and was not in possession of a key, leading police to believe she entered through a door that may have been left unlocked.

An officer discovered the intoxicated woman sleeping in the corner of the store. She was initially unresponsive to police commands. Eventually the woman was escorted out of the store and arrested for break and enter. She was lodged in cells overnight for her own safety, RCMP said.

There was no damage reported, and police believe the woman held no criminal intent.

"She's got a history of being intoxicated in public and trespassing at night," said Whistler RMCP Staff Sgt. Steve LeClair.

Bike reported stolen from garage on Spruce Grove Lane

A bike valued at $650 was reported stolen from a Whistler garage on Friday, May 30, despite there being no signs of forced entry.

The complainant told police the bicycle — a green Brodie seven-speed women's model — was taken sometime between May 3 and 29 while he was away. The man also told police he had hidden the garage door opener somewhere outside.

The investigation is ongoing.

Injured woman rescued from the Spearhead Traverse

A man and woman travelling through the backcountry on Friday sent out a distress signal after the North Vancouver female, 28, suffered an injury to her knee and could not continue.

The request for assistance was received by RCMP at 3:15 p.m., and was eventually attended to by Whistler Search and Rescue.

The party, which also included a 29-year-old Vancouver man, was travelling from the north end of Pitt Lake and was evacuated by helicopter.
