The Whistler RCMP is investigating a report of a sexual assault in the 8300 block of Mountain View Drive in the early morning hours of Sept. 1.

The previous evening, a female staying at a friends' residence was offered drugs, purportedly MDMA or ecstasy. She soon after lost consciousness and awoke at roughly 12:30 a.m. to find three people in her room talking with Australian accents. She said a male touched her inappropriately and that somebody had taken off some of her clothing. Still under the effects of the unknown drug, she couldn't speak out or move, and was having difficulty breathing.

She told police that afternoon that she didn't know the three individuals, and the RCMP have started an investigation.

Staff Sergeant Steve LeClair warned people to party safely, and never to take drugs that could incapacitate them in any way.

Man assaulted in case of mistaken identity

A male who was assaulted on the side of the road in Pemberton on Aug. 28 may be asked to help make composite sketches of the men responsible for attacking him that evening.

According to his report to police, he was walking along Highway 99 near Park Street when a light blue four-door Jetta, roughly 10 years old, stopped in front of him. A Caucasian male, described as being in his early 30s with curly blond hair, white t-shit and light blue pants, got out and attempted to punch the walker in the face. The man dodged the punch and landed a few of his own in self-defence to knock his attacker to the ground.

At that point a second male hit him twice from behind in the back of the head. Again acting in self-defence, the victim answered back with an elbow.

Before it could escalate further, a woman got out of the car and yelled out, "That's not him, let's go," and they got back in the vehicle and drove away. The male called police from the Pemberton Clinic, where he was being treated for a bump on his head, a sore hand and a sore elbow.

The second male was wearing a black hat, black t-shirt and black pants. There are no witnesses.

If you saw anything, contact the Pemberton RCMP at 604-894-6126 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
