In its third tournament in as many weeks in South Burnaby, a rep soccer team representing youth soccer in Whistler, Squamish and Pemberton finally had things going their way with a full squad of players and solid play at both ends of the field.
The Whistler team was undefeated in the three round robin games, scoring 14 goals while allowing just one against.
In the first game Will Robson and Chad Pereira scored in the first half to finish with a 2-0 victory. In game two against the Abbotsford Hurricanes, the Sea to Sky players scored five goals and recorded a shutout, with Hans Schranz earning a hat trick with three goals, and Taran Bir and Chard Pereira each adding a goal. Goalie Jagdeep Tatla, one of the players picked up from Squamish, earned his shutout with a lunge across the goal to stop a shot in the final minute.
The last game was against the host Burnaby club. The Sea to Sky team didn't dominate, but managed to score on a series of turnovers and a hat trick by Chad Pereira. It got ugly in the second half when four Burnaby players were ejected. The team capitalized on their numerical superiority to score four unanswered goals, with points from Harrison Shrimpton, Taran Bir, Hans Schranz and Chad Pereira.
Other players on the team include Connor Russell, Kyle Hustins, Arnold Dan, Kyle Jacob, Harlen Malkowich, Mitchell Roberts, Sam McKoy, David Mellor, Jonas Horvath and Paul Young.
The team will get a break from competition, but will be back in a few weeks to compete in an elite tournament in Vernon over the Easter long weekend.
